Side affects of birth control pills?!

Question:

Side affects of birth control pills?

My boyfriend and his mom really want me to get on the pill but i really dont want to. i dont see how it works and what it does and what are the benefits. i really dont want to but my bf keeps bringing it up and i start yelling because i am really against it. so is it all that bad or good? i think its a pointless pill . that's pretty much it.

Answers:

You yelling because you are "against it" when you don't understand it? Really immature. Probably you aren't even mature enough to be having sex.
The simplest way to explain how the birth control pill works: it tricks your body into thinking it's already pregnant, so you don't release an egg from your ovary like normal. Without the release of an egg, it's impossible to get pregnant.
There are many many many different types of pills and each woman will have her own reaction to them.
You might not have any side effects at all, but I think the most common are nausea, weight gain (or loss), and breakthrough bleeding. Usually after 2-3 months, the side effects will disappear.
The benefits (if used properly) - an extremely regular cycle, sometimes a lighter flow and less cramping, VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF GETTING PREGNANT. The pill can also help with acne.
Again, I don't understand where you're coming from with your ideas, but I think you're too immature to be having sex anyway. Probably you aren't even responsible enough to remember to take a pill at the same time everyday.
