HRT - estrogen and progesterone...?!

Question:

HRT - estrogen and progesterone...?

I want to check my understanding - estrogen in HRT stops the side effects of menopause, therefor progesterone is given also to stop the side effects of unopposed estrogen (Cancer risks/etc....) IS THIS CORRECT ??
If it is - does that mean most women takes combined HRT?
thanks :)

Answers:

Let me clarify this point (I am a woman). HRT means Hormone Replacement Treatment. Any hormones (today there are 3 kinds). For women who had hysterectomy they take only estrogen for their symptoms. All the rest take the combined estrogen-Progesterone pill . The progesterone is a bit more hazardous for women concerning cancer risks.
You can read a lot about it on the web.
