First PAP SMEAR?

i want to make an appointment for my first pap smear but im sort of scared and nervous....i have no idea how its gonna be ...do u have any tips..suggestions......?

I was so nervous at my first one. I was 16. I went with a girl-friend. They told me to take off my clothes and put on the little gown. Then I had to lie back on the table, scoot by butt to the end of the table, open wide and......

Argh! I had left my panties on!

I don't think it's bad. Just remember, the person doing the PAP has done a zillion of them, and it's okay for you to be embarrassed, but you don't have to. If you are scared or embarrassed, lots of other girls are, too.

When they put the speculum in, push down a bit like you are going to go #2. That helps it slide right in and won't hurt a bit. The nurse who does my PAPs always tells me to do this, and it works.

I think it just feels weird because it's not every day we are in "that sort of position."
