Is this harming her?

I have this friend who told me her deepest secret. It is pretty nasty just to warn you and I am worried about her.

She places her butt under a running water in the bathtub so the water enters her body through the Urethra. She says it hurts, but she enjoys the pain. She can't stop because she says she has a physical and mental need for the pain.

My question, is this harming her in any serious way that I should be worried about?

Just to clearify for all of you who are more worried about how good a friend I am, she is looking for help and is really worried about the harm this could be doing to her body. She does it about twice a week for the past two years.

She asked me to find out if this is harming her.

Could this long term use cause serious injury or not is all i am looking for and please state your sources so I can go there and hand my friend some proof that it is or is not hurting her.

The first thing I think of when I picture water entering the urethra is a Urinary Tract Infection. The water will, for the most part, just sit there. That might cause a bacterial infection.

Everyone is different though. I've posted 2 sections from Wikipedia for you. They might not give the exact answer you want, but I'm confident they will at least get you going in the right direction!
