Please Read - Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo?

I am currently on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo.. I switched onto it from being on Yasmin which was too strong for me... i am currently on pill 12 out of 28. on pill 6 i had alcohol that night and then my boyfriend and i had sex.. the next day i didn't take my pill until afternoon ... which the time i take the pill varies everyday.. then on tuesday pill 10 my boyfriend and i had sex around 1:00 p.m. and i didn't take my pill until about 2:00 .. and then on wednesday i didnt take pill 11 until around 5 or 6 .. i also took many cold/flu pills on wednesday.. and now on thrusday i didnt take it until around 2 or after.. somedays i take it earlier some days i take it way way later... My ovulation day began on the 4th of July ... (if that helps any) .. I heard that Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo doesn't work well .. so i'm just wonder how much of a risk am i taking?
Also, tomorrow i am going to the doctor due to a sore throat.. if she gives me medicine for my throat will it throw my birth control even more off?

I am on same birth control and I was told I had to be vigilant about taking it the same time everyday. If you take an antibiotic, your birth control pill is useless. You need to use something else, like a condom. Sounds like maybe you need to look into a more long term birth control like an IUD, that you don't have to think about every day.
