Can abdominal adhesions grow back after being surgically removed 6 months ago?!

Question:

Can abdominal adhesions grow back after being surgically removed 6 months ago?

I had surgery in December to repair adhesions. My intestines, bladder and top of the vagina were bound together. I am now having a lot of the same pain as I did before surgery. I did'nt know if the same thing could happen so soon. Any help would be appreciated.

Answers:

Swannygranny is right. You should see your doctor again as soon as possible. As she said, adhesions are a side-effect of sugery, and can be very serious.

I am surprised your doctor didn't talk to you about the possibility of recurrence of these adhesions, or the possibility of other adhesions forming. At the very least your surgeon should have told you about this. You might ask your doctor why they didn't tell you that the adhesions could recur. If you are not satisfied that the doctor gave you all the information you needed, you might consider seeing another doctor.

Bottom line, though, see a doctor as soon as possible. Adhesions can be very serious and should not be ignored, even for a little while. Good luck to you!
