I'm not a "girl" anymore, but I'm hoping I can still help. :-)
In my case, my period didn't become regular. When I first started menstrating, I had my period once, then didn't get it again for several months. Then, I would sometimes have it twice a month, and skip the next few months. It was crazy!! But after a while...I think it was about two or three years, I started to have "more" regular periods. However, I ended up having my period for two weeks at a time, and therefore went on birth control to regulate the bleeding. So basically, every woman is different. Just keep track of how long your period lasts when you get it, then how many days it takes for you to get it again. Eventually your body will figure itself out. But trust me, I understand--there's nothing more embarassing than sitting in class and realizing that you've started your period again...unexpectedly. ;-)
