I did it, but is this normal?!

Question:

I did it, but is this normal?

I'm 13 and for the first time i put it in a tampon. last time i was in the bathroom crying for an hour cuz it was stuck and i couldnt get it out and it hurt so much....but i really did it. but i know ur not supposed to feel anything, but i do..but it doesnt hurt. when i put the applicator in, i didnt feel anything...and then i pushed the thingy to push the tampon in....and i didnt feel anything, but when i stood up and started walking....i felt a bit of something...well theres something in my body so of course i should feel it, but is this normal, or is there supposed to be ABSOLUTELY NO FEELING AT ALL? and also... im shaking uncontrollably cuz im nervous right now...cuz i am kinda happy and this is new, and my muscles are probably tight, is that whats making me feel it? is it normal that i feel it a little bit?

Wow, there's a lot there in that post. 1) I wish you had a mother or a sister or a friend who could talk to you and reassure you right in the moment, and also give you a big hug for being so brave. It's kinda sad that you have to talk to strangers about such important things, but I hope everyone will be kind and helpful and respectful to you. 2) As it's a new experience, it's not surprising if you're a bit hypersensitive about it all. There should not be any pain with tampon use, ever. If there is, you are probably using too high an absorbency for your body and need to go down a size or two until you're used to using tampons. Some women are very chemically sensitive to the chemicals used to bleach the tampons. I have even read that some companies use chemicals in their product which cause women to bleed more so they can sell more product, which sucks if it's true. I use them myself (Tampax). I refuse to use Playtex, b/c those little plastic applicators will never biodegrade and if you've ever spent anytime at the ocean and seen how many of them wash up on the shore, never to leave this planet for a million years or more, you'd agree.

You should be happy with yourself! You did something brave and new (and it sounds like a bit difficult and scary for you) all by yourself! You're absolutely right about why your muscles may have been tight. Fear and anxiety will do that to a girl. Good for you for doing it anyway! I will also say this: For some women, tampons can be too long. They sometimes can crash or bang into your cervix as you move and cause cramping and discomfort. OB's are much shorter and fatter so they can be a good choice for women who find tampax too long or uncomfortable, especially girls who are not done growing yet. I have also used sea sponges and like them very, very much. You need to boil them between uses (after you've rinsed the blood out). By the way, menstual blood rinsed out in a pan of water and given to your plants makes for amazingly happy, green, luxuriant plants. Women all used to know and to do things like this before Madison Avenue told us out bodies were filthy and dirty and so many women fell for it. It feels really good to know that you're not adding to the paper waste problem on this earth by using sea sponges. My midwives also say to NEVER use Always products b/c of the chemicals they contain.

Hope this all helps! May the goddess richly bless you, each and every single day of your life!
