Anyone else taking care of a disabled parent working your last nerve?!

Question:

Anyone else taking care of a disabled parent working your last nerve?

My mother had a stroke and I have been taking care of her since 1993. She is usually fine but the past 2 days, OMG! It is like she wants my head to explode. She picks fights with me over nothing. I am aware that she is becomming more senile and that her being in denial of it is part of the issue, she don't have a problem, I have a problem.

Hey there Julia! It sounds an awful lot like you may need a hospice worker to come into the home and help out. It's a lot of responsibility and emotional stress to take care of someone who is ailing, let alone a disabled parent. Give yourself some real credit, call your local hospice and get some help, then go and have a spa treatment and it will help to screw your head back on straight for another week of dealing with her more difficult personality. Just remember, when she makes you crazy, of all the times that she wiped your nose, picked you up and helped you out and that can really put things back into perspective for you.

Bless you, dear! Take care of you!
