When fingering my girl why does this happen?

This is wierd to both me and my girl. When we are riding in the car and i finger her, she like super wet and i can go in pretty far, but everytime we try on the couch or bed it doesnt work quite the same. Does anyone have any suggestions why this might be? and also if theres better ways to finger her without taking her pants off.
