Has anyone tried the Mirena IUD?
Have you used Mirena? What are the pros and cons? Did you have any weight gain? I am delivering in October - how long do I have to wait until I can get Mirena?

I have Mirena, and I love it.
I had it inserted at my doctor's appointment 6 weeks post-partum. It is immediately effective, so there was no... waiting.
The insertion was uncomfortable, but not unbearable. I had some cramping (like menstrual) and spotting for a week. I haven't had a period since (it happens to 20% of all users). Even if you still have a period, it is supposed to be significantly lighter and shorter. I have actually been losing weight on it, too. The only complaint my husband had was the strings poked him for a month or so, but they eventually wound up (like they are supposed to), and it hasn't been an issue since.
It is the most effective form of birth control, it is good for 5 years, and it is immediately reversible. I highly reccomend it!
