Why do women always suffer from thrush or yeast infection?!

Question:

Why do women always suffer from thrush or yeast infection?

Answers:

I had a male friend who actually had a systemic yeast infection. The infection ran throughout his body carried by his blood. The result was, basically, constant hives. He was a head brewer at a micro-brewery and worked with yeast. It was a relatively permanent condition lest he quite his job.

I'll take a vaginal yeast infection over that!

I also have a female friend who, at the age of 31, has never had a yeast infection. It's just not fair.

We all have yeast and bacteria living in our bodies. Most people even have E. Coli, strep, and staph living in them. Normally our bodies naturally maintain a balance of good and bad flora (yeast and other fungi as well as bacteria). Sometimes things happen to upset the balance. It can be as simple as a change in your body's pH level (more acid or base).

Yeast infections occur in women more frequently simply because the vagina is a nice, happy, warm place for the yeasties. Frequent bathing, good diet, and sleeping without underwear while wearing only cotton panties during the day are excellent ways to prevent yeast infections. Yogurt with active cultures does wonders, too.

Antibiotics are notorius for causing yeast infections. They kill of bacteria which compete with yeast in the body. When the yeast have less competition they thrive and become an infection.
