Going to the doctor on friday.......................?!

Question:

Going to the doctor on friday......................

So, I'm going to see the doctor this Friday and I'm planning on asking for birth control. I'm kind of worried because I don't want my parents to find out. Every ones been saying that there is the whole doctor patient confidentiality thing, but don't my parents have to pay for it and pick it up from the pharmacist or something? I'm just really worried and if any one can give me an idea of how things go then I would REALLY appreciate it!

By the way, if you're just going to tell me that I'm too young to have sex and I should talk to my parents about it, or anything like that, then please shut up because I've heard it all and I don't want to hear it again. Sorry to be rude.
thank you!

Answers:

Being too young to have sex to someones own personal opinion. At least you're trying to protect yourself somehow! Some states vary on what the whole patient/doctor confidentiality agreement is, but for the most part, as long as you are the age of consent in your state, the Dr. doesn't have to tell your parents anything. You can kindly inform your doctor that you don't want your parents to know, and they have to oblige.

As far as the prescription thing goes, all you need is a government issued ID - like a driver's license or a state ID - and you can pick up your own prescription. If you'd like, you can even fill a prescription over the internet and then go into the store to get it. My sister was 16 when she got on birth control. My mom didn't know. She filled everything out online and picked it up herself. No questions asked!

Walmart has $4 prescriptions btw :-) Good Luck on Friday!
