Mirena Coil prescription (Ireland)?!

Question:

Mirena Coil prescription (Ireland)?

Will be getting the mirena coil fitted in about two weeks time (just waiting on my period).
I was with my doc yesterday and got the go ahead for the coil to be fitted.
He gave me like a prescription like note. My question is ( I completely forgot to ask my gp) do I bring that prescription with me to the doc fitting the coil (it won't be my regular doc) or must i go to the chemist with it before hand to maybe purchase the coil or something and bring it with me?
How much will it cost me? (Again forgot to ask)

Answers:

I had one fitted about 7 months ago. I had to go to the chemist and buy it as they are not free. Here it is around $200, but I have a healthcare card and got mine for under $10. You would probably be better off either phoning your doctor and asking him/her or the chemist. That way, if you turn up to your appointment to be fitted and you don't have the mirena, you won't have to wait til your next period. It's better to be safe than sorry!! Good luck!!
