Mentrual cycle after baby?!

Question:

Mentrual cycle after baby?

I had my son 4 months ago. My period is WORSE than ever. However this month I'm late. I already checked, I'm not pregnant. I have a copper IUD in anyways so it would be nearly impossible to become pregnant on it. but I've been feeling crampy and sick like I'm about to get my period since thuraday last week...still no period. Whats up with this?

Answers:

After I had my kids, my periods changed too...tho mine got better...I had them real bad with severe cramps before my kids. I think in most cases, though, periods seem to be worse after having a baby for most women. And you're only 4 months postpartum....it's quite possible that you will be irregular for a few months until your body finds it's rhythm again.

It is possible that your IUD could be causing your pain and sickness. Some women are more sensitive to different materials...maybe you are sensitive to the copper. Check with your gynecologist. If this is the first month after you got your IUD, it could just be your body adjusting to it...combined with the postpartum irregular cycles. If I were in your position, I'd give my gynecologist a call tomorrow morning, even speaking with one of the nurses might help determine if you need to be seen (due to the pain). I was super irregular up til 6-7 months after each of my kids were born, so I would tend to think that could be part of the problem right there.

If you do not feel better, even after talking to your doctor's office, within another few days, make an appointment. It could be that the IUD you have is causing your pain.
