Frequent UTIs, kidney infections?!

Question:

Frequent UTIs, kidney infections?

Does anyone have any advice to avoid frequent UTIs/kidney infections?

I've had four UTIs in a two years, and 2 of those have turned to kidney infections. The doctor says there's nothing I can do to prevent them. Does anyone have any advice? I drink a lot of water (I'm allergic to cranberries), wipe front to back, and go to the bathroom before and after sex. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, but my husband and I are trying to have a baby.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Answers:

You're doing things right. Sometimes no matter what you do you still get them. You and your husband could also try washing your genitalia before sex and brushing your teeth. You should wash after as well. Since you can't take cranberry, take vitamin C, it also makes the urine more acidic.
I've been given antibiotics to take one after every time I have sex. It seems to be working so far. You might want to talk to your doctor about that if nothing else works.
