I've been on and off BC for a while, the first time I stopped taking it after 6 months was because I heard a lot of health problems it can cause later in life. About 2 years later, I decided to go back on as a back up to condoms just to be safe, I was on BC for about 14 months. I moved out of the country, and after moving back to Florida, I decided to start BC again, It's only been a month but something has seemed off since the beginning.

Usually, I get a week of breakthrough bleeding after my period when i go on/off BC. That didn't happen this time, though my period was shorter. Now, I'm at the end of my pack in my placebo week and I'm 3 days late. I've been sexually active the whole month and used condoms for the first 2-2 1/2 weeks. He's only come inside of me twice, but it was after i had ovulated. I plan on taking a pregnancy test if my period hasn't started by the end of my placebo week.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

I've also been under a lot of stress lately, my boyfriend was in the hospital for a few days, and two of my really good friends nearly died in a car accident about a week ago. I know the first few months your hormones are strange, but I'm curious about opinions.

Based on everything you said, I say you're most likely fine. The added stress of your personal issues along with the horomones can wreak havoc on a woman's cycle. It's happened to me more than once. Go ahead and take the test (buy a cheapy dollar store one!) if you want, but try not to worry.
