Colposcopy-hurts when I have sex now-why?!

Question:

Colposcopy-hurts when I have sex now-why?

I had a colposcopy about 5 or 6 months ago because I had an abnormal pap smear.
The nurse told me not to have sex for at least a week. I didnt have sex for a little over 2 weeks, just to be sure.
Ever since the colposcopy, it hurts when my boyfriend and I have sex. At first I thought it was because he was too big but we had been having sex for a few months prior to the colposcopy and he had never hurt me. I also never bled during sex either. Now I bleed slightly every once in a while when we have sex and it hurts just about every time. It's a sharp pain, caused by his penis going in and out.
I called the clinic and they dont know and just referred me to the ER. I dont have money for an ER visit.
Please help. I dont know whats wrong, but I've never experienced pain during sex ,except for my first time, 6 yrs ago., until I had the colposcopy.

Answers:

You need to call the dr. that performed the colposcopy. Just tell him the problems you've been experiencing since the procedure. It may or may not be related to it, but he should be able to do an exam and/or tests to see what the problem is.

I had a colposcopy about 4 years ago. It hurt for several months afterwards. Some women just heal more quickly than others.

Please see your dr.
