I suppose the Gardasil is the one against cervical cancer?
Well, all I can say is that was just recently FDA approved after much lobbying. Merck did a major lobbying effort to make this vaccine mandatory! But only the state of Texas made it mandatory. And now there are allegations that bribes and financial promises were involved. They're making boatloads of money with this vaccine. There is no assurance that this will not have long-term negative effects on the fertility of those who get it. I mean, who's to say that when the girls who get these shots now will have healty children later? This has not been tested. There is the possibility of birth defects or lowered fertility. I would never, ever give permission to have my daughter given that shot!!!
Also, the HPV virus can be easily detected in the annual OB/GYN exam. And it can be monitored.
Plus, HPV can be avoided by using condoms. Why should the girls get these shots and possibly suffer long-term consequences when it's transmitted by guys? It is an STD.

Hep A and B makes sense though. Stuff like raw fish (e.g. oysters) or other raw foods can cause Hepatitis. So that's a good idea.
But do some research, ok?

PS: It's your civil right to object because of religious, ethical, moral reasons. They should give you a way out on the flyer that they gave you. It's not all right that they're forcing you! It's not a state requirement in NM. It's just the school. The school might be getting financial support from Merck for each shot a student gets. I can only suggest that you do some research on this. And if you don't want to talk to your parents, why not go by a local legal clinic (they provide legal advice for free or at very low cost) to find out your rights. You might be 12, but you do have rights. Yes, you do.
