I am 17 weeks pregnant and have hpv?!

Question:

I am 17 weeks pregnant and have hpv?

I was diagnosed with hpv almost three years ago, with no symptoms, just an abnormal pap smear. Everytime I went back to the doctors and gotten my 6th month and annual pap smear done, they couldn't see anything wrong. Now I am 17 weeks along, still don't have any symptoms, my pap smears have come back abnormal but not life threatening, and haven't been passed on to my partner either. Will my delivery still be okay and also my child in the womb and when it comes out, if I have no complications now?

Answers:

You can deliver vaginal with HPV and your baby will not get it but I am not a OB so I would ask them to see. Even if you have the HPV with warts your baby will not get it. Some links will talk about vocal cord problems but there have only been 12 people that have ever had a problem so nothing to worry about. I know lots of women with HPV and no problems. If you voice your concern with your doctor he/she will talk to you about it. You can always have a c-section if that will make you feel better but really there is nothing to worry about.
