Cervical position before menstruation? (Serious answers only please.)?!
Question:
Cervical position before menstruation? (Serious answers only please.)?
I was due for my period the other day but it didn't come. Before anyone says it, I am going to take a HPT to make sure I am not pregnant, but regardless, I was wondering what your cervical position would be before you get your period... as in RIGHT before. Obviously during menstruation your cervix opens to expel everything, but I was wondering if it is generally closed or slightly open during the few days preceding menstruation. This has nothing to do with pregnancy, it is just a question. Serious answers please =]
Answers:
The surface of your cervix should ALWAYS have a bit of a dimple in it (rather like a large pit). The cervix only opens about 1/2 a centimeter during menstruation (consider the fact that it will dilate to 10 cm for childbirth, this is a VERY minimal dilation), so you would most likely NOT be able to find an appreciable difference.
Your cervix however MAY feel more tender, swollen, or the neck of the cervix may feel a bit more distended (may be lower in the vaginal vault) a day to three days prior to menstruation.
