Question:

I just got my period!?

I just got my period yesterday and I have a few questions... any advice or answer would be really helpful and appreciated! Thanks in advance:

*What kinds of foods should I eat/avoid?
*What are some common symptons and treatments (looking for natural foods to cure symtons, but medicine is okay)
*Other info ~ any advice you may have?

chocolate, a heating pad, and pain relievers are now your new best friends :)

haha it's not that bad really, you'll get used to it in no time!

diet...i don't think there is a specific diet or foods you should avoid. just drink lots of water. many women crave either sweets or salty foods so that may be the only difference in your diet.

symptoms...cramping, back pain, tender breasts, headaches and irratibility are the main ones. cramping will more than likely be your biggest symptom and i take ibprofen for that. it helps a lot. plus it helps with any back pain or headaches i have at the same time. a heating pad is wonderful when you get your period. use it on your lower stomach or lower back and it feels great.

other stuff...don't stress and don't listen to any bad things people say. it's not that bad and it's just something you learn to deal with! like someone above me said, it's key to track your days. you can expect your next cycle to be aournd 28 days after your last day. you'll learn how long your cycles are and how many days apart they are. don't worry if your numbers aren't consistent for the first year. it's normal to be irregular at first.
