Female circumcision is illegal and prosecutable in most countries. Most recently made illegal in Egypt. People having this done to their daughters where it is "legal" that then return to countries where it is illegal can and will be prosecuted for this as a crime. The UN also considers it a crime as well.
It effects women in many ways. One of them is that they are no longer able to have an orgasm, and the tissue of the vagina is now scarred and there can be complications with urination, menstruation,birthing and conception depending on how the outer vaginal lips are sewn together. Sometimes the openings are so small the poor women can barely urinate, much less have sexual intercourse comfortably. Birthing with a type 3 increases the risk of death for the mother and child up to 55% more likely than with a normal vagina.
Female hormone levels remain the same and they have the same sex drive, they are never able to have an orgasm. For a male, this is the equivalent of having the first 2 inches of his penis chopped off. It is a tragic and senseless mutilation of the genitalia.
