Question:

I have been on zolft for about 10 yrs and feel it is not as effective. Is this a possibility? Time to change?

I'm also at that "mid life" phase;do all the hormonal changes alter the effect of my med?

Answers:

Your body changes a LOT throughout 10 years. They say that your body goes through major changes every 7 years or so. For example, you could be allergic to bees your whole life, and then one day you just wont be anymore! or you might not have any kinds of allergies and then all of a sudden you've got a tun!

Now, I know we're talking about depression medications and not allergies here.. but I do believe that your body could have changed over the years. Becuase you've been on it for so long - maybe your body has even gotten used to it, making it less effective. Perhaps your doctor can raise your dose. If not, try switching to something similar/mild like prozac.

Good luck.
