Do insurance policies cover a tubal ligation for a woman who has never had child!

Question:

Do insurance policies cover a tubal ligation for a woman who has never had children?

I am 29 and I never want to have kids. I don't currently have coverage, but I may soon. I remember hearing somewhere that it is only covered if the woman has had three children allready.

Answers:

I don't know why it would be that way. I had mine done when I only had one kid, and my insurance covered it. I have a friend that had hers done with no kids. If you don't already have a doctor willing to do it, you might have a problem finding one who will do it because they are scared you'll change your mind and come back on them. So start looking now. My friend got to where instead of actually going in and paying the copay for a visit, she would call and ask the nurse if the doc would do it for someone who had no kids.
