Laparoscopy vs open abdominal?!

Question:

Laparoscopy vs open abdominal?

I am scheduled to have a lapraoscpy in a 2 weeks to remove adhesions that may be blocking my fallopian tubes. My surgeon told me that due to previous surgeries when i was younger he may have to preform an open abdominal procedure instead. Has anyone had this done? If so, what was the outcome? We are hoping that this will help us have children.

Answers:

Either you go have a 2nd opinion from another surgeon, so
you have another opinion which might be the same or might differ. If both opinions are similar i.e. an abdominal procedure you might except a long recovery period. I cannot say how much longer, but definitely longer as it involved cutting through muscles and tissue, which causes, unfortunately, pain. But the purpose of this procedure is for you to have babies, so I suppose you will be fine and survive whatever discomfort the procedure causes you. Good luck.
