Nervous...What to expect?!?!?!
Question:
Nervous...What to expect?!?!?
I have to go for my colposcopy/"possible biopsy" this afternoon. This is a follow-up to an abnormal pap reading of "atypical squamous cells." I've read about what the procedure actually is, but I'm nervous as to what to expect as far as results,treatment,etc... I understand that atypical cells are at the low end of abnormal. Is a biopsy always performed? Any testimonials would be appreciated.
Answers:
I had one done two years ago and they aren't painful, just awkward because you are up in the stirrups, the doctor and nurse should be helpful in keeping you comfortable. Biopsies are only preformed if the cells look atypical to the doctor. More than likely he won't do one. Results can take up to 5 days, so don't be suprised if you don't hear from them until next week! Good luck!
