About a year ago, my doctor put me on birth control. Recently I have been having serious abdominal pains, I told my doctor and he took me off of my pills for 3 months and then i will be taking the shot.
A few days after i had stopped taking my pills, i started my period. i have now had my period for almost 10 days. is this a normal side effect associated with coming off of a high dose contraceptive?
p.s. my doctor said that there may be some minor bleeding after i got off the pill, but I think 10 days is not normal. Any advice would be helpful, thanx

I think you should definitely contact your doctor. I do think it is normal to experience changes when switching meds but I don't know about ten days. When I quit using birth control my period went from lasting 4 days to 7 days the next time.
