Just thinking about having sex is when a person should be put on the pill. It is fine to take at 16. There are some low dose pills that are good. The best bet is to go and see a gynecologist, get a pap smear and then speak to him/her about what birth control method is best for you. Can you remember to take a pill every day at around the same time? Or if you think you would forget, there is the patch. I would not suggest the nuvaring, I know someone who got pregnant while using it.
