First Pelvic Exam?

I'm 14 and going to have my first pelvic. I'm really scared. What are they going to do. I've had sex and know that she will be able to tell that I have and I dont want her to tell my mom. Will she? Does my mom have to stay in there with me? Will it hurt?

I had sex at 14 and I think the biggest mistake was not talking to my mom about it, so I highly suggest that first of all.

I noticed a lot of people said pap smear without explaining what that is at all....so basically the doctor will take a metal or plastic contraption called a speculum - it looks like a duck beak - and use it to hold your vagina open while he/she swabs your cervic with either a giant Q-tip or something that looks like a mascara brush or both. Its not comfortable but it doesn't hurt at all. It also doesn't take very long and most doctors do their best to make patients more at ease... especially if its your first one :)
