Question:

Help! worried bout umbilical hernia operation - what are the risks (if any) what are recovery figures?

Been told by Doc its a fairly straight forward op. but i'm worried stiff!

Answers:

It is a very straight forward operation, and shouldn't take much more than 30-45 mins.
You don't say if you have had a general anaesthetic
before, either way, you will only have a light sedation.
There is a slight risk of infection, it will be a little uncomfortable for a few days, and trousers/skirt's may feel a little awkward around the waist...Being overweight will cause a few more problems and a little more discomfort, but all easily overcome.
It is a minor operation, and has a very high success rate...
I have nursed many people that have had one done, without any problems.
