You are not going to hurt yourself.
And you really can't put it in wrong.
If you follow all the directions and when you insert it, tip it toward your spine, you will know when it is in correctly. The only thing you can do "incorrect" is to NOT put it in far enough.
Then it will feel uncomfortable. Then you will know it is not past the cervix. Just reinsert.
