How long are your periods supposed to go for?!

How long are your periods supposed to go for?
I get my periods like clockwork every month and they go for about 8 days, is this normal?
Answers:
That depends on the girl's system. If your are ALWAYS like that, then I wouldn't worry too much, because apparently that is normal for your body. If your cycle CHANGES (like, shortens to about 3-4 days a month, or increases to more than what is is now) all on it's own, then you should talk with your doctor. I do agree though with taking the pill to shorten your cycle. Talk with your doctor with ANY concerns that you have.
