Birth control..?!

Question:

Birth control..?

okay i really think i should be on birth control. i have been sexually active for about 2 months now. and i dont want any
suprises. i use a condom every time. and with my period being so irregular i want them to be straightened out. and i want to make sure im extra protected.
the thing is i am not on this level with my parents and i really dont know how to ask them. i mean my boyfriend said he would take me to planned parenthood to get them, but i dont want to go behind my parents backs... and im scared if i do ask they will be upset with me and know i just want to have sex when the main reason why is becasue i have irregular periods i want straightened out.
any suggestions on how to ask them?
should i ease into asking the question
or just come out and ask?
ive been wanting to ask for a few months now.
and i get stressed and just change my mind
at the last minute.

Answers:

First the warning... please please keep using comdoms even with the birth control. Please!

That being said, I was in your place when I was in high school. Birth control made my life so much easier - no more wondering when your period was going to start and wreck your day. And the cramps were so much better.

If you are sexually active, then you are old enough to start seeing a gynocologist. If you already are then explain your situation to him/her. If the recommendation comes from your doctor (like it did for me) then your parents will be more accepting. If you do not have a gynocologist yet, planned parenthood is probably the way to go. Plus I'm positive that planned parenthood can give you lots of advice on how to talk to your parents. Even if you don't get the pill there, they are probably a great resource for how to deal with this.

I know it's tough, but I was so glad (and still am) that I did it. Some people's periods never get regular and the pill made everythng so much better. And once you tell your parents you will feel better too.

But don't forget the condoms!!!
