I am 34 weeks pregnant and yesterday I started having a lot of burning in my belly and cramping. I went to the hospital and they put me on a monitor and told me that my cramping was actually really strong contractions about 8 minutes apart. They also said I am 60% effaced. Then they gave me pain medicine for the burning and sent me home to rest. I have been in bed and drinking lots of water, but still having contractions. Should I be preparing for an early delivery???

Answers:

Sounds a lot like Braxton Hicks. They call it "false labor" but its essentially your body preparing to deliver. Don't worry about them unless they are 3-4 minutes apart and don't go away or get better over time.
