Is there something wrong if your period changes from early in the month to later!

Question:

Is there something wrong if your period changes from early in the month to later?

My period used to come during the second week in the month but now its changed to the end of the month. Is this something i should be concerned about? I have become sexually active, im not sure if that matters though. Any ideas?

Answers:

Your period comes at different times of the month because there is not the same number of days in each month and because your cycle isnt the number of days in a month.

For example, the average cycle is 28 days. There are 30 and 31 days in the month. So one month you could start on the 3rd, and the next month on the 5th, and so forth. So naturally the date of the month will drift.

The 28 days is just an average. The only people I have ever known that were actually on a 28 day cycle are those on birth control. It is realativly normal to have a cycle that goes anywhere btween like 24 days and 38 days. That isnt like a medical number, that is just from experience of other women that i know.

Starting any kind of birth control can change your cycle. Stress can change your cycle. Some say your diet can change it.

Also teenagers are rarely regular.

If you are really freaked out and think something is wrong, then go to the doc. Gut feeling is worth a lot. But in general this is normal and nothing to worry about.
