Question:

Ok Agian about the Depo sub-q provera?

Anybody else switched from the original depo to depo sub-q and have extra weight gain?

If so what have you done about it??


since i switched over i've gained about 10 to 15 pounds when i used to wiegh 125

depo provera, the new one is depo sub-q provera its a birth controll medication

i switched and my weight gain was not helpful when the sub-q is a lower does of hormones

yeah i know about the weight gain i was on the original depo and i only gained like 5 pounds and i was on the original depo for 2 years, thats not what im asking. IM ASKING, why did i just all of a sudden just gain 10 to 15 pounds when i switched to the sub-q form

The absorption of any medication can be altered by the way it is administered; in your case, you switched to a treatment that increases the availability of the substance to your whole body, so, maybe you should talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose. Also, we have to consider if the weight gain is based on water retention, body fat or muscle gain; the first two would be the most likely with your current treatment, but if you've been exercising, take it into account. Talk to your doctor.
