Maturity level changing, after giving birth?!

Question:

Maturity level changing, after giving birth?

I always feel intimidated around young pregant women, and younger mothers, because I feel like they just got so mature extremely fast. I don't know, it's weird. Because I just think after or while they are pregant they automatically have their maturity level go up. Is that true? Are some mothers immature, and only grow up in time?

Answers:

I have a younger neice who is now a mom and she is not what I would have called the mother type. She has most definately change since giving birth. There's something about holding that precious life in your hands for the first time and having the realization sink in that you are now responsible for feeding, clothing and caring for their emotional well being. Babies don't give you a choice. If you don't take care of them they will let you know. Unless someone is just emotionally disconnected it would be hard for any new parent regardless of their age to sit back ignore their children's needs. As they grow so do the parents. You have to learn to adapt and meets the child's needs in different ways. Soon you progress from the basics of feeding and clothing to an intellectual and emotional need.
