What are good ways to help stop cramps?

I took some advil but its not really helping any girls have any ideas how to stop cramps from hurting so damn bad?

1) You should talk it over with your doctor just to rule anything else out (polyps were causing my painful periods).

2) I agree with Ann, it really helps a lot if you head it off at the past and take an Aleve as soon as you know you're about to get your period. Don't wait until the pain is so bad you can't take it anymore because you're just prolonging your agony.

3) Also, Thermacare now makes menstrual patches specifically for mentstrual pain. I like using their patches better than a heating pad because it lets you stay mobile.

I joked with my doctor the other day that I would like to hurry up and get to menopause so I wouldn't have to deal with this stuff anymore. Her answer? "Be careful what you wish for!"
