How safe is the HPV shot that they are making young girls in Texas take? What are some of the side effects?

I don't think they are "making" anyone take it. It is advised to get the shot before sexual activity starts because once you are exposed to HPV the vaccine will not work.
The side effect is that it may prevent cancer.
There is so much controversy over this. First, it does not protect from all cervical cancer, or all strains of HPV. It only protects from the 4 most common strains that have been connected to cervical cancer.
Then there are the parents who are misguided and think that if they give the shot to their kids it is promoting/condoning sex. So not true. The only thing related to sex is that the shot needs to happen before they are exposed to work.
Then, in my opinion, this vaccine hasnt been in testing or circulation long enough to know if there are any adverse long term side effect.
