IUD and pregnancy?
My girlfriend has the mirena IUD she has had it for 2 to 3 months. Last month she got her period on the 22nd of the month this month she is not had her period we just took a pregnacy test and it was negative but she still hasnt gotten her period and we are freaking out that she might be preganant. Please if you have experianced anything like this. Please help us..... Is it normal to miss a period and not be preganant???? We are so scarded and please anything would help.....

Hi! I've had the same IUD for almost a year. Sometimes, in the beginning, I would bleed a little everyday for a couple of months, then nothing at all for months. Now, it's been about 4-5 months and I thing I just had an "almost" period. (I used to bleed very heavy for 7 days straight w/ lots of cramping...TMI, I know! Now, it's so light, no cramps and only sometimes it was there and sometimes not for a week.)
Bottom line, don't worry. Less than 1% of the people usig Minera IUDs get prego every year. It's very rare. They say for the first year, especially the first 6 months, bleeding can be very erratic, then stop for years. I'm sure she's not pregnant. Hope that helps!
