What age is it ok for teens to start weight lifting?!

What age is it ok for teens to start weight lifting?

i have a younger friend and she is 14, and she wants to start lifting weights at a program at school....it's over the summer everyday from monday-thuresday for an hour....is it ok for her to lift? she wont be lifting a lot of weight but she just wants to stay in shape for sports and stuff....would it ruine her health in the future if she did?


Answers:

As long as she doesnt strain her body she should be fine. I use to do weight lifting and sports when I was her age. The only thing you need to look out for is her eating habits. I became anorexic because I became obsessed with wanting to have the perfect body builder figure. It's very easy to fall into that trap so just make sure she has 3 to 5 healthy meals a day.
