Intercourse after giving birth query?!

Question:

Intercourse after giving birth query?

I gave birth to my baby girl 5 weeks ago...

I know you should wait 6 weeks after giving birth, but last night, me and my partner got a bit... erm... carried away... and ended up making love.

It didn't hurt, and I had no discomfort or abnormality afterwards, sooo... Should we hold off again and wait that other week, or should it be OK now?

Is there any particular medical reason why we should wait exactly 6 weeks?

(P.s: I know I could concieve now, and yes, we used protection!!)

Thanks! :-)

Answers:

It is fine to make love that soon. doctors say 6 weeks as a general rule for all women, but all women are not the same. After my first baby, we waited a total of 4 weeks before making love again and I was just fine with no pain. It all depends on how the labor went, if their was a c-section or not, how badly you felt after the labor. I heard some women can not even walk for a while after having a baby and have many many problems. But, for those women like you and me who have no problems with labor, just go by how you feel comfortable and ready to do everything after having a baby.
Congratulations on the new little one!!!
