I'm taking BCP and I'm spotting, will this go away?!

Question:

I'm taking BCP and I'm spotting, will this go away?

I recently started taking the pill and I started spotting towards the end of the second week everyday and I'm just finishing up the third week. I also started getting mild pains similar to the ones that I get when I'm on my period.

Is this just my body getting used to the pill?
Will it go away or should I ask my doctor to change the pill

Answers:

Chances are that you need a different pill and that it will not go away. Different birth control pills have varying levels of hormones and you need to find the one that best suits your body. Call your doctors office and tell them your spotting. They will likely want to switch you to a different kind of BCP.
