My sister had a lump in her breast, the dr. removed it without doing a biopsy fi!

Question:

My sister had a lump in her breast, the dr. removed it without doing a biopsy first, is this typical?

the dr now says she needs to remove her breast, she works but she has no insurance. what are her options

Answers:

well, in order to do a biopsy you must remove the tissue to be tested, so yes, it's typical to remove the lump and then biopsy it. and her options are basically 1) run the risk of dying of cancer (since she won't have money for chemotherapy later on) or 2) take out a loan and do whatever it takes to scrounge up the money to have it removed. if the doctor says to remove the whole thing, that means the biopsy was NOT NORMAL, which is obviously not good. i hope your sister comes out okay.
