Cramp trouble =[?!

Question:

Cramp trouble =[?

ive had my period for about half a year now, and the cramps are pretty bad. When i get my period differs from month to month because i havent had it long enough to have a set schedule. So, i dont know when to take medicine to relieve the pain. Sometimes, i get my period at school, and it hurts ALOT, and im not allowed to go to the nurse during class to get medicine. Any help here?

Answers:

I have horrible cramps as well. Nothing really helps a great deal so my doctor suggested birth control pills. Since I haven't had my period too long, she suggested to wait a few months so I will be starting them in August. For now, I find taking Motrin/Ibuprofin at the first signs of PMS or when I first start help a little. I continue to take the recommended dose about every 8-12 hours. I've tried Aleve and Tylenol, etc, but they just don't do a thing. Taking Calcium supplements seem to help as well. I also find eating bananas help (weird, eh?). Take warm baths frequently, and use a heating pad on your stomach. Try to avoid salty food while on your period. If you can't see the nurse for pain medication during class, try going between classes or have your mom write a note to the teachers as well as the nurse explaining you might need to go during class. If you do decide to go between classes and you are afraid you might be late to your next hour, ask the nurse if she could possibly write you a pass. They are usually happy to. I know what you're going through and good luck!
