Does moderate cervical dysplasia cause bleeding?!

Question:

Does moderate cervical dysplasia cause bleeding?

I found out I had moderate dysplasia after a few biopsies recently and I had a small leep procedure done last week. I am nervously waiting for the results So I remember now a couple of months ago I was fooling around with this guy. I didn't sleep with him but I did let him finger me for like an hour. The next day I had a few spots of blood on my panties. It seemed like I had my period but it went away after that day and I didn't get my period until 2 weeks after that. I was a little freaked out but I also kept in mind that I was on birth control for 2 years then I got off for four months... then back on for two months then off again that very same month I had fooled around with that guy. So could this be because A) I might have cervical cancer B) the whole mess with being on and off birth control those months caused the spotting C) the guy had nails.. could he have cut me? or D) I am absolutely insane for pondering this much I should just wait for the results and not think too much

Answers:

Most women have no symptoms with cervical dysplasia but some do have spotting or light bleeding so your bleeding is probably related to the dysplasia.

Please note, cervical dysplasia is considered a pre-cursor of cervical cancer but that does not mean you have cancer! Cervical dysplasia only becomes cancerous if it remains untreated (it usually takes about 10 years for cancer to develop) and it is simple to treat. In fact in mild dysplasia, the most common form, the majority of the cases regress without treatment.

You took the right steps. You have seen a doctor and are now waiting for the results. Follow through with what your doctor suggests and always, always get your yearly pap tests. Those pap tests will be your best friend. Take care and good luck!
