How soon after your Mirena IUD is put in...?
can you have sex without the big risk of getting pregnant? Right away or after a week or so? I get mine put in tommorrow . Is the pain of insertion really bad? I just had a baby 10 weeks ago, so maybe it won't be as bad for me? ADVICE PLEASE!?!?!?

You can have sex immediately The hormones are there as a backup birth control method which will eventually keep you from ovulating; the IUD itself is effective immediately because it will prevent the implantation of a potentially fertilized egg.
MY insertion was horrendous, but other people describe it as a mild period cramp. I think it's all a matter of what your pain tolerance is, and how experienced the doctor is at insertion.
