Women...birth control pills question..?!

Question:

Women...birth control pills question..?

I'm 23 yrs old, I haven't been on birth control pills for a little over a year now. I don't feel like being on them. I don't have sex often, VERY seldom, nor do I really care to "hookup". I don't really have any desire to. Most women are on birth control, that I've talked to, even girls younger than me, it just seems like everyone is on them. I'm not a big fan of casual sex, as many women seem to be. I won't say I've never done it, but it's just not my thing, so I prefer not to have to pay for and have to remember to take birth control pills, when I know I most likely won't have sex...maybe 1 time....during the next 6months. And I always use a condom anyway, during those rare occasions. Honestly, I was on birth control from the time I was 18-22yrs old, and I really feel like sex is overrated. I've been there, done that, not amused anymore. Am I just weird? Or does anyone feel the same? Should I get on the pill anyway? Thanks.

Answers:

don't assume every woman that is on birth control is just on it because they want to have lots of sex. i was put on the pill at 15 years old because of ovarian cysts, but i was a virgin all through high school.

that said, i personally wouldn't want to go off the pill just because it regulates my period. not to mention it lessens my cramps each month.

but you sound like you're a responsible person, so you don't NEED to take the pill if you don't want to. it doesn't make you weird.

PS - Joan, another answerer, mentioned all of the bad aspects of the pill, but she neglected to mention that women who are on the pill have a lower chance of getting breast cancer.
