My friend is under 18 and wants me to take her to the gynecologist?!

Question:

My friend is under 18 and wants me to take her to the gynecologist?

She's been having sexual intercourse with her boyfriend and had a miscarriage a few months ago. I told her it would be a good idea to see a gynecologist since she is sexually active and she said she could never confront her parents about it. Her parents don't know she's having sex. I offered to take her but she would need to provide her insurance information and I'm worried her parents would find out eventually. We live in Ohio. Is there any law preventing me from taking her without her parents knowing?

See the Q&A's on this site... http://www.ohiobar.org/pub/lycu/index.as...

Basically it says that in Ohio, parental consent is required for medical treatment except:

-to an examination for the purpose of gathering physical evidence of an alleged sexual offense;
-for the diagnosis or treatment of any venereal disease by a licensed physician;
-for the diagnosis or treatment by a licensed physician of any condition that it is reasonable to believe is caused by drug abuse, beer, or intoxicating liquor;
-to be given an HIV test for the diagnosis of AIDS or an AIDS-related condition.

So, I would think that at least an initial GYN visit wouldn't require consent but I'm sure she'd have to provide insurance information which could lead to her parents finding out... Does Ohio have any free clinics, etc? That may work too. GL!
